The scope of this project included the 15,000 sq ft second floor scan to BIM and fire alarm redesign of a health care facility on Cape Cod. The tenants in the spaces included Vinfen— a nonprofit community organization which focuses on health and human services for individuals with mental health conditions— and Health Imperative— a healthcare organization dedicated to providing health and wellbeing care to low-income or vulnerable families/ individuals in Southeastern Massachusetts.
ESE’s scan to BIM team was able to scan the highly congested spaces (both in terms of many small offices and furnishings) without disrupting operations or requiring removal of furniture/etc. The point cloud data gathered from these scans was then used to create a BIM model in revit illustrating all architectural and structural elements (walls, floors, ceilings, openings, furnishings, columns, etc) of the second floor. Additionally, these scans captured all existing electrical systems, allowing for a complete redesign of the space’s fire alarm systems.
The fire alarm system redesign included a fire alarm permit set, narrative, and affidavit. ESE made modifications to the existing FACP, new tenant 2 only addressable initiating devices and horn/ strobe NAC devices wired as Class A system to adhere to the 9th Edition of the Massachusetts Building Code, IECC 2021, and MEC 2023.
